When I got home this evening Melissa told me Elizabeth had once again refused to take a nap and had been quite a handful all afternoon. I talked to E to see what she had been doing and why she didn't take a nap. In a very assertive 3 year-old voice she told me "she wasn't tired."
As I watched her run around the house looking for someone or something to play with, I thought it would be a great time to get on the floor and wrestle a little. We played superman. We played tickle. We played tigers. You name it, we spent almost 30 minutes rolling around on the floor and she giggled and squealed and laughed uncontrollably. One minute she was begging me to stop tickling and the next she was begging for more.
I've discovered there is nothing as intoxicating as listening to her laugh and giggle. Whatever the troubles in my world, a few minutes of laughter from Elizabeth simply make those troubles seem small. Laughter really is the best medicine.
